RE: Hauling a boat ...

Had a ten foot Zodiac for years. Great boats but a real pain to transport deflated and then inflate. You have to constantly protect it from the Sun when not in use. Unless you are very diligent and careful they do lose air and can be punctured. I now carry a 12' aluminum boat and 10 HP engine. I fashioned a boat rack with rollers that fits on the rack that came with my Nissan XTerra.I have wheels fitted on the transom of the boat to roll it to the water. Much better set up, IMHO. We took the Zodiac off of a 42' Hatteras that we sold, it was a commercial fishing boat. Used it for about 5 years and then went to aluminum. Happier with the aluminum boat. If I ever had another large boat I would go Zodiac again, works better in that scenario than a hard aluminum boat.

RE: TO LUBE OR NOT TO LUBE

My personal view is that I would do the LOF before the trip. Oil is cheap insurance. I would also have Cummins pull an oil sample when they do the change to start a record of what is going on inside the engine. The oil sample is usually only $20. I do it every time they change my CAT and Onan genny. Have fun on your trip.

RE: Refrigerator on Propane Usage

You won't have a problem running your fridge on propane while traveling,if you get to a plug in site just put the fridge on electric 'til you move again. When I'm dry camping I turn the water heater on propane about 4:00pm in the afternoon for dinner and tthen shut it off at night unless it is below freezing. I normally turn it back on at 6:00AM for showers.

RE: Best place to find replacement headlight assembly?

I had a similar issue with the driver's side headlight assembly on my 2003 Safari. I called Monaco & they sent one they bought from GM, although under warranty at the time, it was not cheap if you had to pay for it. It is my understanding from talking to the customer service people at Monaco that almost all RV manufactures buy those parts from a major car manufacturer. I'd call Bounder or one of the RV surplus vendors.

RE: Dinning Chairs

Call you RV manufacturer and ask who supplied the chairs. They can probably tell you the fabric cleaner to use.

RE: DP mechanic to check out a coach

There is a very fine Cummins dealer right across the street from Monaco's main plant in Coberg right off of I-5. They can run a computer check on the engine there and give you the maintenance history.

RE: First Oil Change

Since this is your first oil change on what is a 2008 I assume you are still under warranty. First I would take it to a Cummins dealer for the oil change and in any event I would use a Cummins filter so as to avoid any later hassle about warranty issues, if you have a problem. Next, I would definitely have Cummins pull an oil sample so you have a record of what's going on inside that engine. You are probably due for all of your fuel filters/ water separator etc to be changed as well and a lube job. You need to check for lubing any fittings on the drive shaft, water pump (if if has zerk fittings) etc. If it were my rig I would spend the money to get Cummins involved in the first oil change and filter changes! By the way, I also have an oil sample pulled on my generator when I have the rig engine serviced for the same reason. If you do the generator then you should run it before changing the oil/filter and pulling an oil sample. Just one man's opinion. Enjoy your rig.

RE: Front coating?

My coach came with 3M shield, didn't order it. But after 5 years no peeling, cracking and if I bought another coach I would definitely put it on. Very easy to clean bugs off, no need to wax, doesn't fade or turn yellow. JOMO.
